I recently started reading a book that I have been thoroughly enjoying because of the spiritual truth behind it. It’s called Hinds’ Feet on High Places by Hannah Hurnard and the intro alone was enough to tell me it was worth reading. Here is the excerpt that caught my eye:
It is God’s will that some of His children should learn this deep union with Himself through the perfect flowering of natural human love in marriage. For others it is equally His will that the same perfect union should be learned through the experience of learning to lay down completely this natural and instinctive desire for marriage and parenthood, and accept the circumstances of life which deny them this experience. This instinct for love, so firmly implanted in the human heart, is the supreme way by which we learn to desire and love God Himself above all else.
This passage spoke volumes to me on a personal level and brought tears to my eyes. I wanted to share it today for anyone in a similar situation to myself, in my thirties and still single, and for anyone who can take this passage and apply it to what they may be going through right now, whatever that may be.
Use your trials to draw you closer to God. Let God use them to mold you into who He desires you to be so that you are more able to accomplish His will for your life.
